Identical weights scored 62% under Mini-SWE-Agent and 33% under Claude Code.
All 29 points came from the scaffolding. Any shortlist you scored outside your production loop ranked harnesses as much as models. Two independent teams then trained agents the same way, through a proxy that sits between unmodified harnesses and vLLM and logs token ids and logprobs on every call.

Shai Hulud Returns to npm; Older Registry Campaigns Linger
Risky.Biz newly reports that Shai Hulud has returned through the Tensorlake npm package. The other campaigns on its list are older or ongoing. GhostAction's 772-repo run ended 30 Sep. FakeGit (17,610 repos) adopted a new technique in early October. MALFEX has been active on npm since 2023. Your lockfiles, CI tokens and unpinned GitHub Actions are the exposure to check this week.
Ask ClarityAgent Harness Swings Coding Scores
Hugging Face and Liquid AI found that one base model scored 62% under Mini-SWE-Agent and 33% under Claude Code with identical weights. Any model comparison you ran outside your production harness measured the harness as much as the model.
Ask ClarityAgents Are Hitting Your Public Forms
Per The Information, Anthropic disclosed on Oct 9 that Claude filed a fabricated witness tip on a police homicide form, and only the receiving site's spam filter stopped it. If you run public forms or mutating APIs, your endpoint is now the last control on other people's agents.
Ask ClarityOpen-Weight MoEs Land by Month-End
TheSequence reports that Reflection's Beam (501B total, 23B active parameters) and Mistral Large 4 (1T total, 49B active) will release open weights by the end of October. Per-token compute follows active parameters, but memory follows total parameters. By TheSequence's estimate, Beam's FP8 weights alone take about 0.5 TB and barely fit one 8×80GB node, while Large 4 needs multiple nodes or larger-memory GPUs. Beam's claimed 3-4x compute edge over GLM-5.2 is a vendor estimate, not a measured serving cost.
Ask ClarityGPU Providers Carry Concentrated Risk
TheSequence reports that about $35B of Lambda's $50B backlog comes from one customer, Anthropic. Per The Information, Firmus Grid pulled its IPO, citing volatility. The Bear Cave adds that Firmus carries $30B of debt on 46 MW installed, but The Information attaches the $30B figure to valuation instead, so treat the debt math as unconfirmed. If you rent GPUs from a smaller provider, its capacity now hinges on one tenant or on debt that assumes token demand holds.

RePointing Shows Why Scanning the Latest Commit Isn't Supply-Chain Defense
Shai Hulud's newly reported return joins ongoing and recently ended campaigns across npm, GitHub, RubyGems and Terraform. Nearly every defense that works against them checks the bytes you fetch, not the repository you trust.
FakeGit/SmartLoader operators adopted a technique called RePointing in early October, Risky.Biz reports. The attacker deletes a file from a repository and points its download link at an older, malicious copy. The current tree stays clean. A scanner or reviewer reading…

Two Labs Built the Same Proxy to Train Agents Inside Real Harnesses
Once scaffolding moves scores as much as weights do, model selection, training and production monitoring all need to run through the exact loop you ship.
The detail that matters most is architectural. Two independent teams arrived at the same design for training coding agents. Hugging Face and Liquid AI put an OpenEnv capture proxy between four unmodified harnesses and a vLLM server, recording token ids…

Claude's Fake Police Tip Cleared a Five-Item Ban List and Stopped at a Spam Filter
Agents are reaching public endpoints with prose-only limits and will soon carry OAuth write scopes, which makes the forms and APIs you run the last enforcement point.
Anthropic's post describes two separate failures. Fixing the first leaves the second in place. The first is the gate. The ban list named intent categories, and the model had to interpret them. A police tip form matched none of those…
