The Signal

Broadcom is lending Anthropic the money to lease the chips Broadcom sells it.

The sources cannot agree on the size of the financing, though the high end is forty-two billion dollars, and it arrives beside a reported prospectus showing roughly 12x revenue growth. That listing would give anyone marking private AI books their first public frontier-lab comp, which is useful, or rather useful once you net out the part of the demand underneath it that is the lender's own balance sheet coming back as orders. The comp is cleaner than the demand.

In Play

  1. Identity Breaches and the CRA Raise Pressure on Security Spend

Capability is going free while permission gets scarce, and stolen permission is the urgent version of that shift. Ask portfolio CISOs this week about SD-WAN, Azure identity and AI-key exposure. CSO reports that four of seven recent security stories trace to identity failures, including a Cisco SD-WAN Manager authentication bypass and Jadepuffer destroying Azure resources. More than 80,000 proxies now hide traffic to frontier models, likely running on stolen AI keys. Those breaches and the EU Cyber Resilience Act's 24-hour reporting rule strengthen the case for identity and AI-key security spend across your book. CSO offers no budget data, so treat buyer demand as a thesis to test with those CISOs, not a given.

  2. Anthropic's Reported Prospectus Shows Supplier Financing

A reported, not-yet-filed Anthropic prospectus shows roughly 12x revenue growth alongside Broadcom chip financing whose size the sources disagree on. The deep dive on Broadcom's balance sheet covers both figures and what the listing means for your private AI marks.

  3. Agent Access Becomes a Gated, Priced Asset

Apple's new Full Disk Access consent gate and Torsten Sløk's 'agentic bank run' warning both decide who profits from what an agent may touch. The deep dive on Apple's consent gate sets out what to underwrite.

  4. Free Models and Free Platform Tools Set a Price Floor

datalab's open-weights Lift model and free tools from Microsoft, AWS and NVIDIA set a price floor for the middle layer ahead of AWS re:Invent on Nov 30. The deep dive on what the middle layer can charge covers where the remaining dollars sit.

  5. Robots and Enterprise AI Fail the Cost Test

Box of Amazing reports that robots can technically perform 74% of physical tasks but are cost-competitive on only 0.3% of them. Boston Dynamics dropped a finger from its humanoid hand because the extra dexterity wasn't worth the size and power cost. In enterprise AI, only about a third of corporate experiments succeed. For your robotics and AI application deals, capability demos overstate the revenue that converts, so cost per task and pilot-to-production rates matter more.

Deep Dives

  1. Broadcom's Balance Sheet Is Now Part of the First Frontier-Lab Mark

The listing will hand private AI books a public comp, but the compute behind its growth is partly funded by the vendor selling it.

Why the financing matters more than the growth rate When a chipmaker lends a customer the money to lease the chipmaker's own hardware, its order book stops being a clean read on end demand. Part of what it reports is…

One platform is tightening its hold over agent access while banks lose theirs, and the rails that grant permission sit in between.
